Drs. Sandra van der Maarel (1965)
I have a background in business economics, psychology and systemic work combined with an interest in Philosophy and old wisdom traditions. From these different backgrounds and experiences I guide individuals, teams and organizations in profound change processes and leadership development. I have experience in an international environment.
Besides my broad interest in knowledge I learn from my clients and from how I move through my own process in life. I like to spend time in nature or just be by myself in the stillness of my home to integrate and grow as a person. I am blessed by having a young adult son. His wise and positive curiosity keeps me on track and makes me quite often burst into laughter. Humor and lightness are so helpful.
For me writing is a way to express myself in a creative way and to give language to processes that aren’t always easy to catch. I am co-author of the book ‘Generatie V. Veerkracht voor veertigers en vijftigers’ (2013), author of the essay ‘Slow down to speed up’ (published in The New Leadership (2016)). As author/editor at the journal ‘Vuurvogel’ of Phoenix Opleidingen (2015-2019) I wrote different articles on leadership, stillness and transition.
Work experience
I have been independently employed since 2006. Next to running my own consultancy/coaching practice I am a moderator at the European Leadership Platform, executive intervision coach at Nyenrode University (AMP), alumni coach for IESE Business School of Navarra and guest teacher systemic work at AOG School of Management. I work as an associate for the Galan Groep in leadership development programs.
Before joining the Change Management Group of KPMG Consulting in 1998 I worked as a financial advisor and controller for Elsevier Science Publishers and Bloemenveiling Aalsmeer. Between 2002 and 2006 I lived in the Italian part of Switzerland (Lugano). This has been a very enriching period that has given me an insight in stories from people from different parts of the world, the opportunity for reflection and deep learning, besides learning the Italian language and culture.
Education
I have a background in business economics (Erasmus University, Msc), psychology and therapy combined with my years of experience in the field of change management, personal leadership and systemic work. I followed different programs at Phoenix Opleidingen in Utrecht (system therapy, NLP, TA, relationship therapy) and various international programs, among which the Foundation Programma Theory U (Otto Scharmer, Presencing Institute, Boston, 2014), Synchronicity (David Peat, Pari Center for New Learning, Italië, 2013), the 8 days seminar Deep Dive into Consciousness (Thomas Hübl, Jeruzalem, dec2019/jan2020) and The Art of Transparant Communication (Thomas Hübl and Markus Hirzig, 7 weeks program, 2020).
